Perceptions of money

I am a high school English teacher.  This is what one of my colleagues had to deal with today:

Rude Student: What is the easiest English class that I could take in 12th grade?
Teacher: *tries to blow off the question* That's a bad attitude.  They are all hard.
Rude Student: Well, I figure, why should I even try?  I could get my GED and still make more money than any teacher in the school.
Teacher: *furious* You should really get out of my sight now.

There are really no words.  Needless to say, I'm not really feeling too thrilled with my job right now if this is what I am up against.

Getting rid of debt...

Lately, we have been focusing on getting out of debt and sticking to a budget.  Well I just made ANOTHER car payment.  In fact, I've paid them so much online that they won't even let me do it anymore.  Instead they changed the due date of my loan to March 2009.  So I will be mailing them a check for $4200!  So after that is applied, the car loan will be around $5500!  I can't believe the end is so near, especially since the loan started out at an awful $20,000.  Since July 1st, we have paid $9229.86!

I'm getting excited about this! :)
